You know them - the ones that are so overripe they make your teeth hurt, and maybe they're attracting flies.  Or, maybe your toddler insisted on having an entire banana, took a nano-bite and announced, “DONE!”

Here’s an idea - peel the overripe ones, pick up the abandoned ones, and start a banana bag for your freezer.

Then, you’re set if you want to:

  • Make a refreshing smoothie for breakfast/snack on a warm day (fave recipe below).

  • Make banana soft serve (throw two frozen bananas, a little milk or coconut milk and a teaspoon of cocoa powder into a blender or food processor and go - or I like to throw it all into a tall, wide cup and use an immersion blender - and voilà.  Guilt free dessert for mama).

  • Bake banana bread, muffins, cupcakes

  • Smear a frozen banana with a little peanut butter and roll in granola, chopped nuts, or toasted coconut (have you tried Peanut Butter & Co Dark Chocolate Dreams???)

  • Stick a frozen banana on a skewer, cover with magic chocolate shell, and give to the kids for a treat (if you want to skip the skewer for safety reasons, you could also cut a slit with a paring knife and slip in a popsicle stick, or even just let them use a kiddie fork)

  • Slice a frozen banana, then top with some whipped cream and chocolate sauce

  • Defrost a banana, mash it, and add to your pancake batter

  • Defrost a banana, mash it, and add to your oatmeal

  • Say f*ck it and slather a frozen banana with Nutella, top with coconut and/or graham crackers.
